How to quickly Scan a document in Windows 10?

It's very simple to quickly acquire a scanned image in Windows 10 without any complicated scanner drivers or settings. All you need is a relatively modern scanner that supports Windows 10 operating system connected to your PC.

The feature is not too hard to find it's simply called "Scan" and it does exactly what you might expect it do do. If you can't find the Scan app in the Start menu, click the words All Apps in the Start menu’s bottom-left corner. The Start menu lists all of its apps alphabetically and you just need to works your way down to Scan. When you activate the Scan app it will appear on your screen and as long as your scanner is connected (and supports Windows 10) your all sorted.

If you experience any issues make sure that your scanner is connected via the USB cable, that it's turned on and that its supports windows 10. Simple as that really.

The app has some default settings that will be fine for most ad-hoc scanning requirements but if you need to tweak it a little bit you have a tiny bit of flexibility. In the Colour mode you can make some limited selections such as black and white, grayscale or colour for your picturtes or magazine articles. You will also have control over resolution and where the image is going to end up, most likely in a scan folder in the standard pictures location.

All this is fine for a quick one off scan but if you want to do things properly load your scanner software and take advantage of the advanced features that your scanner manufacturer provides. Windows 10 Scan function is good to know about. Remember a large proportion of the cost of your scanner is related to the software that drives it - you should take some time and get the best out of your scanner.
